Everton set to complete £25m striker signing

Everton are close to completing the transfer of Portuguese striker Beto from Udinese, sources have confirmed to 90min.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move to England, with West Ham among the clubs that had shown an interest in signing him.

Now, Everton have made a huge breakthrough in the summer transfer plans as manager Sean Dyche has been frantically looking for a new stiker to help boost the squad’s attacking options.

Daniel Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues mean that the Toffees need another target man – and they have been looking all summer to bring in different options.

But a deal for Beto has been agreed that will see Everton pay around £25m for the Portuguese. He should be unveiled soon, having undergone a successful medical on Merseyside on Monday.

Dyche is still hoping to bring in another striker on top of Beto and 90min understands that West Ham’s Danny Ings could be an option the club now turns to.

“It’s fair to say that I do want to sign strikers but they have to be ones that can actually affect what we’re doing and the deal has to work,” said Dyche.

“Someone was asking the other day about Youssef [Chermiti], it actually worked – I’m not going to go into the details because it’s private – but it actually works over how we can construct a deal. So it doesn’t mean you can’t do another deal, it means we’ve got to construct them in a way that can work.”
